Montréal Complétement Cirque

TOHU organizes a free circus street festival every summer. Every evening, except Monday, after 17:30 on the Saint-Denis street below Sherbrooke Street. Also, Saint-Denis, in particular above Sherbrooke, is THE street for going out. Location & Website of the spectacle

Cool outdoor venue: Village au pied-du-courant

Under the Jaques Quartier bridge, Village au pied-du-courant is one of best outdoor venues in town. It starts at 18:00 and goes on until 23:00. The spectacle is on July 6, July 10, and July 11.

Fireworks:

Lotto Québec holds every year a fireworks competition which is viewed best from the banks of the St. Laurent downstream from the Jaques Cartier bridge. This is on Thursday, July 10, at 22:00.

The hipster:

Food tour on foot through iconic Montreal institutions in the most fashionable neighbourhood; the Mile End.

  1. St-Viateur Bagel, eat the bagel of bagels with smear which you have to hunt down yourself, so bring your Opinel or Swiss army knife (warning, cash only, but they have an ATM).
  2. Drogheria Fine, have sumptuous Gnocchi out of a card board carry out container:
  3. Wilenskys, the sandwich of Montreal, a must try of an iconic Jewish Deli, get their special
  4. Kem CoBa, to finish it all off, get some ice cream

The floaty:

Cruise the St. Laurence on board of a Bateau Mouche. You get a scenic view of the Montreal skyline from the water.
Make your reservation here, there is also dinner cruise, and yes, they serve cocktails.

Stepping up to the challenge on the stairs of Mount Royal:

Start at Peel street and head up the mountain to the look out. Step out of the hotel onto Peel Street and just keep following the steepest gradient. More information

Walk around Montreal’s old port, where it all started, here are some spots you might want to hit:

  1. Notre Dame de Bon Secours Chapel has a museum showcasing the early settlers of Montréal
  2. The Marché Bonsecours offers objects by local artisans
  3. If you did not have enough science already, get more of it at the Montreal Science Centre

Also, there are probably the most restaurants per square mile of anywhere in Montreal. 

The beachy one:

Go to the beach in Verdun at the Fleuve St. Laurent. It can be easily reached by public transport. Also, one of the nicest nature strolls in Montreal. Use the Green Line and get out at De l’église.
